Spring is here and with it: time to clean up, shake up the mess, and bring up the new for spring cleaning.
I don’t know about you, but for me, my work-related tasks—AKA writing tasks—are not the same if I don’t have an environment that is organized and clean. For the most part, this is the way I follow through with cleaning in my home and work environment.
When it comes to spring cleaning, this looks more like a ritual as if part of the Feng Shui practice––cleaning, organizing, rearranging, getting rid of old stuff to bring in the new, and with that, recreating a harmonized environment. Needless to say, this year was no different.
The list doesn’t seem to end when you are taking down boxes, putting away seasonal stuff, reorganizing files. In the beginning, it appeared to be a daunting task, but I realized with the right planning and approach, I was able to do it quickly.
With that in mind, I want to share some tricks you can use to make spring cleaning fresh and easy in addition to helping you save a bulk of your time and money.
1- Buy products that you use every day.
I understand that sometimes we get overwhelmed with the variety of options on our shelves, but when in doubt, start with what you are familiar with. It makes it easy to move on with the tasks.
For me, those are Woolite, Lysol, Finish, and Air Wick. Those are my must-have household products that help clean and revitalize my home/work environment. After I had tackled bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and office, my place was looking brand-new.
The beauty of all is that I was able to save big by heading to Target and taking advantage of the promotional offers and Cartwheel by Target coupons. And you can do the same.
2- Plan for Savings.
As a rule of thumb, before going shopping, I usually check the coupons on my phone apps before heading to the store.
This time, I took advantage of one of my favorite apps, Cartwheel by Target, and I strongly recommend it to anyone willing to increase their savings. As I mentioned in a previous post, Cartwheel by Target offers savings ranging from 5%–30% on everyday products. The best thing is that you can find products in different categories.
When navigating the app in the cleaning section, you will be able to select items that are must-haves for spring cleaning. For instance, Woolite, any Lysol cleaning item, and Finish all offer a 5% savings. That’s not all, either; there is a variety of promotional offers such as buy any 2 Woolite 100oz, get a $5 Target Gift Card (available until 4/8), at one’s disposal.
3- Start with your favorite room and work your way to other areas.
Don’t complicate your life; make it simple. Start with the area that you spend most of your time in or that you have a special connection with.
In my case, I had the urge to start in my office––the place I spend most of my time searching for inspiration.
I got the Lysol and started disinfecting the computer, desk, chairs, and lamps. Then I shredded papers and reorganized my files.
While I was taking care of the office, I exchanged lines in the bedroom and gave the old ones a new boost with Woolite High Efficiency Extra Dark Dual Formula (100oz). Since I started using it a few months ago, this has become my new laundry detergent. It is great for keeping the color in the dark clothes.
Back to my office, I finalized with a special touch from Air Wick. I used Air Wick Fresh Waters Scented Oil to bring in a fresh aroma to my sanctuary. From there, I moved over to bathrooms. I left the kitchen to the end, just because I had more work to do there than in the other rooms. But everything was taken care of in less than three hours. Once you get in the groove, you can move faster.
If you are already in spring-cleaning mode, these tips can help you optimize your time while providing ideas and savvy ways to save. To complete that, be sure to check out some other promotional offers on Cartwheel website. In the end, that can make a difference.
